How One of the Most Common Yoga Instructions can Destroy your Sacroiliac Joints

Despite decades of anatomical and kinesiological understanding of pelvic and hip function, many methods of Yoga still utilise alignment cues that erode the balance and stability of the sacroiliac joint.

I continue to be dismayed to find that about 50% of every group I work with has been brainwashed into distorting their SIJ, knee and hip function, all in the quest for an aesthetic that has no basis in functional movement.

This may be a game changer for you– check it out, share it around.

Let’s stop the madness.

Watch a brief introductory video below, which was one of a recent 10 part mini-tutorial series introducing the full course to be released on Monday 11th June 2018. Note, these tutorials are a lower quality resolution than the high resolution full course.

What Others Have Said (From participants in my recent introductory mini-tutorial series. Names excluded to protect privacy.)

“I too am enjoying the videos, I learn more easily this way and Donna you explain it so well (I have always found anatomy difficult...) I have a student with SIJ issues and Yoga helps with her pain, it’s nice to be able to understand this area of the body and to be sure that I’m keeping my students (and myself) safe. My style of Yoga is very gentle, however I particularly liked video 2 with transition from lunge to standing pose! Valuable stuff! “

“For my personal view, I have discovered why I avoided Warrior 2 because it always hurt when I did it the traditional way. For the last two days I have practiced the way you instructed and no pain. Just reinforces my intuition and how I felt in my body”

“Having injured my SIJ nearly 20 years ago, it has been a reoccurring discomfort - this couldn’t have come at a better time for me”

“I have already gained great insight into my own practice and my cueing to my students. I’ve never been able to square my hips as instructed and maintain the integrity of my knee; so I always chose my knee. Also guilty of expanding SI joint in Supta Padangusthasana. I just added 2 tips in my tool box.”

“As a mama of a 5 year old boy who loves to cuddle, over the years my SIJ has taken some stress as his now 40+ pounds puts extra torque and pressure on my femur/SIJ when sitting in my lap. (I since have started using my yoga blocks under my knees when sitting crossed legged on floor when he comes in for a snuggle, which has really helped support me and taken the pressure off.)”

"Last night as I lay in bed I realized that the precise place I was feeling discomfort was in the SIJ, just where the photo of Pelvic Reset tutorial highlighted where inflammation presents. Also, as I tuned into my own body this week with extra lens from the recent lessons, I noticed that I was standing more on one foot than the other, the hip swing, asymmetrical stance."

I received relief from pain with the pelvic reset thank you.”
